About the Headmaster

Gregg Davies was educated at Shrewsbury School, Kent School, USA and St Andrew’s University. He began his teaching career at Haberdashers’ Aske’s School before moving to Fettes College in 1989.  Initially appointed to teach Biology, Gregg became Deputy Headmaster in 1999 having been Housemaster for five years.   Gregg then spent three years as Headmaster of the fledging Fettes Preparatory School before returning to full-time Deputy Headship.

Whilst in Scotland he refereed rugby at a high level, including a number of internationals.

In 2004 Gregg was appointed to succeed Mr Nick Bevan as Headmaster of Shiplake College. Gregg’s wife Alison is very involved in the life of the College as is his daughter Anna, who attends a local preparatory school. Arguably the best known member of the Shiplake family is the Davies’ Bearded Collie, Darwin.
