On Friday 14 November, the entire College and friends in the local community will flock to Henley Hawks RFC for what promises to be the highlight of the Shiplake rugby season. The fourth annual Friday Night Lights event sees the Shiplake 1st XV take on Lord Wandsworth College, which looks set to be an epic encounter between two evenly-matched sides.
The bar will be open from 6.00pm with the sporting action commencing immediately. As a curtain-raiser, Shiplake's Lower School rugby teams will take on Gillotts School in a 'Henley Derby'. A loud, enthusiastic crowd is expected for the big match, kicking off at 7.00pm.
This is the not the first year the schools have met in Friday Night Lights. In 2012, tries from Tom Howe, Joe Carey and Piers Chen (2) were enough to secure a 22-8 victory for Shiplake. The boys in maroon and white will be hoping for a similar performance and result this time around.
Admission is free, with charity programmes on sale for £2 on the night. Bring the family, bring your friends, wrap up warm and come and support the boys!
