The Autumn Term will end in traditional fashion with the Shiplake College Carol Service at St Mary's Church, Henley. This is always a memorable event which brings the entire College community together.
Arrangements
The College Carol Service
will take place at St Mary’s Church on Tuesday 16 December 2014.
Timings:
The
Carol Service will commence at 11.30am and guests should be seated by 11.20am. The
car park on the Henley Royal Regatta (HRR) site will be open from 10.00am.
Parent Attendance:
Given
the size of the College and restricted space in the Church we have to limit
parents to one parent per pupil or two for those pupils who are
performing or are in their final academic year.
Boarders’ Possessions:
All houses will be open from 8.30am on 16th
December for the collection of boarders’ possessions prior to the Carol
Service. To ease congestion on campus after the Carol Service, we would urge as
many parents as possible to collect possessions prior to going to Henley. For
security reasons the houses will be locked at 10.00am and will not re-open
until approximately 12.45pm.
Parking:
Once
again the College has been granted permission to use the HRR site for free car
parking. Entry
to the HRR site is via the road leading to the Leander Club, RG9 2LP on the
east bank of the River Thames.
The College’s estates staff will be at the HRR site to ensure that you are able
to find the correct parking area; please would you follow their instructions. It
is very important that all vehicles remain on the areas of hard-standing and do
not drive or park on any grassed areas. If you are bringing elderly or disabled
passengers, please indicate this to the estates staff and they will do their
best to accommodate you. Alternatively, passengers can be dropped at St Mary’s
Church prior to parking. Whilst most cars can be accommodated at the HRR site,
there are public car parks in Henley-on-Thames at Waitrose (33 Bell Street, RG9 2BA), Station Road (RG9 1AY) or Greys Road (RG9 2AA).
Exit:
The estates
staff will endeavour to enable guests to leave the HRR site as soon as
possible. Please ensure that all vehicles are removed from the site by 1.45pm
at the very latest as the gates will be locked at this time.
