Intimate Music Concerts Continue
MusicEvents

As half term approached, the Shiplake Music Department continued to show off the progress made so far this year with two more delightful performances. The first ever recital evening was held in the Eve Lecture Theatre on Thursday 16 October, followed on the next day by the second in the series of Lunchtime Concerts.

Housemasters and tutors were out in force to support performing pupils, as well as parents on the Thursday evening.  Will Kidd (Year 10) and Ben Atkin (Year 9) stole the show, leaving Welsh Housemaster Mr Howorth very much looking forward to House Music. Skipwith Housemaster Mr Duncan was also full of praise for his boys’ performances, but agreed Ben Atkin’s rendition of ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ was particularly special.’

Friday’s lunchtime concert featured a variety of music to help audience members wind down after a busy half term. Those performing included singers Becca Robinson and Jordan Gibson, pianist Jason Chan and woodwind specialist Tom McCooke. Music teacher Mr Ham provided the musical accompaniments.

Well done to all those involved. For a flavour of the quality of Shiplake’s music productions, please visit the Music Department’s SoundCloud page. The most recent addition is a choral arrangement of Avicii’s hit Wake Me Up.
