Over the past week, pupils' work and their overall progress have been assessed by each teacher and each department, ensuring that they are on track to achieve targets. This process also showed those pupils who have excelled themselves in a variety of departments, going above and beyond the expected. Up to five individuals in each year group were awarded with an Academic Excellence Certificate, recognising the best overall Progress Reviews this term.
Pupils were awarded with Academic Excellence Certificates, celebrating their achievements in class so far this term. Pupils were assessed on their engagement with learning and their effort in class, and were then awarded with a certificate in assembly. Pupils were also awarded with an invitation to the Exemplum Docet Society, who have their first meeting next week. The EDS, which focuses on academic enrichment, exists to stretch and challenge academic scholars and those pupils who are performing well. The group enjoys visits from external speakers, the chance to go on a variety of trips and challenging discussions and debates within the meetings; next week, a BBC producer will come to speak to the group about a career in the media.
Assistant Head Academic Dr Gareth Hughes commented: ‘we were particularly looking for really positive attitudes to learning, which all the award recipients had in multiple subjects. All of the pupils work really hard in lessons, but these pupils have shone.
