Boarding Life at Shiplake
Boarders' ProgrammeWhole School

Boarding is an integral part of life at the College; houses provide a welcome place to relax and unwind. As well as being a home away from a home, boarding life has much more to offer pupils. A plethora of activities, which vary from each weekend to the next, ensures that all pupils are kept well-entertained, challenged and stretched during their time at Shiplake College.

The Boarding Activities Coordinator, Mr Tiki Ebun-Cole, works tirelessly to ensure that pupils who board are never bored. There is a host of different activities with which they can get involved. In recent weeks, pupils have been to a London Irish rugby match, played bubble football, enjoyed big tree climbing, tried their hand at golf and even had an afternoon at Laserquest. Mr Ebun-Cole comments: ‘the boarding activities are an important element of boarding life. For boarders, activities that are available in the evenings and at the weekend are as important as their academic life here at the College. Often, pupils will try their hand at an activity that they might find challenging or out of their comfort zone, and this is fantastic as it gives them confidence. There is a real community amongst the boarders; students have the opportunity to get to know each other better, learning tolerance and friendship.’
