On Wednesday 5 April the Lower School received a visit from actress Emily Grant, who specialises in hosting interactive workshops for schools. Organised by Head of Languages Mrs Justine Parrott and Mr Tiki Ebun-Cole, the session was highly informative and entertaining for the pupils, who found it a welcome change of pace from classroom-based learning. Thank you to Mr Ebun-Cole for the following report:

‘As part of the Modern Foreign Language department’s curriculum enhancement, bilingual actress practitioner Emily Grant visited the Year 7 and 8 pupils, to give an interactive workshop based on The Three Musketeers. The boys were invited to participate in the play, with chanting, acting and singing in French. Volunteers donned props and costumes to assume the roles of various characters, such as King Louis, D’artagnan’s father and his faithful horse!

Ned Simkin-Carr echoed the views of many of the boys when he said that he really enjoyed the play. Despite not being able to understand every word, he managed to follow it and get really involved with the action and storyline. We hope that this experience of French theatre will serve as motivation for students to work harder in acquiring their chosen foreign language.
