Footballers Celebrate with Awards
FootballSport

The football season was rounded off with an awards ceremony, in order to celebrate the successes and hard work of the players over the last few weeks. Head of Football Mr Richard Ebbage provides the following report of the football season, and a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon celebrating:

‘The football season was rounded off with the awards afternoon. On top of pin badges for 75% participation in fixtures, awards trophies and certificates were given to those in each squad who achieved the most improved, golden boot, players’ player and player of the season. There were also colours awards for each year group for a small handful who have shown impressive attitude and performance across the season. These are difficult to attain and those awarded them should be rightfully proud.

This year also saw the Football Club awarding its first ‘Colours Blazer’, which went to Captain of Football Miles Bridgman. The blazer is for not only attitude and performance but for showing this over a sustained period as well as displaying leadership ability. Miles personifies this – he was captain of the U15A team when he was in Year 10 and has been in the 1st XI for the past three seasons. He captained the team this year in a season where we had some very tough tests and came out with some very positive results. The most pleasing aspect was his leadership, leading by example in his play and really encouraging younger members of the squad. Congratulations Miles, well deserved!

The Football Club also took the opportunity to thank all those who made the season possible – coaches for planning sessions and giving up their time to take fixtures, catering for always keeping us fed and watered, the grounds team for ensuring we had somewhere to play and train and all the admin staff for their work behind the scenes.
