Talking Business at Paultons Park
Business BTECTrips & Visits

On Thursday 27 April, Sixth Form Business BTEC students travelled to Hampshire in order to visit Paultons Park. However, this was far from an exercise to indulge the inner child; the pupils were visiting the much-loved family theme park to experience a talk on the importance of training, as part of their BTEC course. Head of Business BTEC, Mr David Rose, provides the following report on a successful trip.

19 Year 12 and 13 students visited Paultons Park, which has been voted the number one theme park in the UK in 2016. The group were there for a talk in the importance of training, which had been organised by the HR manager of the park. The thought-provoking talk gave the students a valuable insight into the importance of training, and the variety of methods used that they use. The group found the talk very interesting and informative, particularly exploring the variety of training that takes place in the park, including animal welfare and zoo-keeping, to food hygiene, ride maintenance, keeping the park clean and organising the characters in Peppa Pig World.

Following the talk, students and staff were able to see just how impressive the park really was, as well as sample some of the rides. Mr Rose commented: ‘the pupils conducted themselves professionally at all times, and made the most of exploring behind-the-scenes in one of Britain’s most successful businesses. The pupils enjoyed seeing the many different facets necessary when successfully running an alternative business.’
