50 Years of Welsh House
Old Viking Society

Throughout 2015, Welsh House are celebrating their 50th anniversary. To commemorate the occasion, the Old Viking Society and Welsh Housemaster Mr Jonnie Howorth are organising a celebratory dinner, taking place on Saturday 25 April 2015 in the Shiplake College Great Hall.

The purple house, located at the top of the main drive, was initially founded in 1965, six years after the founding of the College. The dinner invites all former members of Welsh House, along with current parents, to come together and formally mark the golden anniversary. With founding Housemaster David Welsh and other long-serving staff members including Peter Gould and Alex Hunt already confirmed as attending it promises to be a memorable evening. Shiplake’s outstanding catering team will prepare a sumptuous three course dinner, with wine on the table. The bar will also be open throughout the evening for guests to continue socialising after the meal.

Upon registering and buying your tickets, you can either volunteer as a 'table captain' or reserve a place on an existing table. We are anticipating all eras to be well-represented as we try to fill the Great Hall to mark this momentous occasion. For current parents in Welsh House it provides an excellent social opportunity to meet with other parents and be part of the momentous occasion.

To book tickets for the black tie dinner, please visit the event page. If you have any queries about the event, please contact Welsh Housemaster Jonnie Howorth or Marketing Officer Ross McSweeny.
