Following an emotional football and hockey season, boots
were hung up- for some of Shiplake’s players, for the very last time. Ensuring
the season ended with a bang, the annual Football and Hockey Awards took place,
celebrating the players who have made a great impact over the course of the
season.
Staff and students enjoyed drinks and snacks, whilst eagerly
anticipating the announcement of the winners in each category. The 1st
XI hockey team finished undefeated in the second half of the season, winning
three matches and drawing two; a fantastic testament to the hard work of each
player in the team. The 2nd XI also had a successful season,
enjoying numerous wins and working hard to come together as a formidable side!
The 1st XI football team did not enjoy quite as
successful a season; however, with several students from Years 11 and 12
introduced into the squad, the hard work and commitment shown by the team over
the course of the season looks set to create a strong team for next season. The
2nd XI also faltered slightly this season, conceding some matches to
local rival schools. However, the enthusiasm for the game is a credit to the
players, and the players are keen to throw themselves into training for next
season.
The awards categories were followed up the prestigious honour
