The end of another term meant the announcement of another
Headmaster’s XV; fifteen pupils who were recognised for their commitment to
their sport during the last half term. This time, players from the football,
hockey, netball and rugby teams battled it out to win a coveted spot on the Headmaster’s
‘dream team’ by proving their dedication to their sport.
Selection for the Headmaster’s XV is awarded to those pupils
who have shown exceptional commitment to and effort in training and matches throughout
the half term. Unlike the traditional ‘player of the season’ award, the
Headmaster’s XV is not based on sporting prowess alone: rather, the recognition
is based on devotion and hard work.
The pupils are put forward by team coaches and the decision
is finalised by Mr James Gaunt, Director of Sport. Mr Gaunt has commented that ‘competition
was indeed tough this half term, and we are incredibly proud of all the students
who have received this recognition. It shows true dedication and we hope that
this continues into the Summer Term.’
