Despite the less-than-favourable weather that has hounded
the UK recently, the Lower School of Shiplake College gathered outside early
this week to put on a bake sale, all in aid of Daisy’s Dream.
Parents and staff had kindly baked and bought a smorgasbord
of delicious baked goods to sell to pupils and fellow staff members. An annual
bake sale, Lower School choose a charity and then give up their break times to
help sell cakes, in order to raise money for their charity. This year, the
charity of choice was Daisy’s Dream, a local trust that supports children and
their families who have been affected by life threatening illness, or bereavement
of someone close to them.
Donations of cakes, flapjacks, brownies and cookies came
flooding in, and the lower school were well stocked when the rest of the school
descended at break time. For those who were classroom bound, willing students
grabbed trays and headed off to bring the cake sale to them.
Summer diets were all but forgotten as the sweet treats were
devoured- made all the sweeter knowing that the money raised is being sent to
such a worthwhile cause.
