Former Shiplake pupil Will Satch has been selected, with George Nash of Molesey BC, for one of two GB men's pairs for the forthcoming World Cup which begins on May 6th. The World Cup involves three regattas, starting with Belgrade and moving on to Lucerne and Munich.
Will learnt to row at Shiplake College with Athol Hundermark and before moving to Leander Club where, at the age of 19, he was a member of the winning Thames Cup eight at Henley Royal Regatta in 2008. The following year he gained his first GB vest as a member of the U23 men's four at the 2009 World Championships in the Czech Republic, where his crew finished in 11th place. Earlier in the year he had competed at the inaugural Youth Olympic Festival in Australia where he won gold in the men's eight and silver in the men's quad.
The following year Will got his first taste of action in the senior squad when he was selected for the GB men’s eight at the World Cup regatta in Munich where his crew won the silver medal. Later in the season he competed in his third World U23 Championships where he won a second successive bronze in the GB eight in Amsterdam.
When not rowing Will enjoys swimming, watching rugby, drawing and drinking a wide selection of green teas.
