Despite being a small school in comparison to local rivals in Reading and Oxford, Shiplake College have a habit of causing upsets year-on-year. With a hugely experienced coaching team, and a focus on skills and fast paced counter-attacking rugby, the boys get a lot of enjoyment out of rugby at the College. Teams continue to go from strength-to-strength and with the recent increase in pupil numbers, Rugby clearly has a very bright future.
The overseas tour to South Africa occurs every 2 years and consists of around 25 boys all in contention for the coveted 1stXV jersey. The tour is a chance for the boys to experience South African life, and taking the opportunity to visit some amazing places such as Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Pretoria and Johannesburg. Annually in November we tour to the West Country to give the U14’s a chance to do some team bonding and get some quality training in. Usually the trip consists of a tour of Bath Rugby Club and Gloucester Rugby Club, followed by a competitive match against The Crypt School. The trip is finished off with the boys watching an Aviva Premiership match. For further information, or if you would like a fixture against Shiplake College, please contact Mr Sam Beckett (Head of Rugby) firstname.lastname@example.org
