College House

Mr Nick Brown arrived at Shiplake eight years ago as Head of History. He became Housemaster of College House in September 2007 having previously been Housemaster of Skipwith House for six years.

Nick’s interests include singing (he was a Choral Scholar at Norwich Cathedral and has sung in Bristol and Wells Cathedral Choirs), classical music, cricket and golf.

Nick lives in Skipwith Cottage with his wife, Leonie, children Alice (15), Ian (13) and Oliver (7) and Oscar the cocker spaniel who is ‘very badly behaved and scruffy’.

College House is the Year 13 House which has single study bedrooms, a day room, games room and kitchens on each floor. There is also a laundry room. Students in College House are encouraged to take greater responsibility both for themselves and within the school and the House aims to help bridge the gap between school and university or work.

College House holds regular receptions for parents, house groups entertain their housemasters and tutors and there are regular trips out.
