Girls' House

Mrs AJ Foakes was appointed girls’ Housemistress at Shiplake in September 2007. AJ teaches Chemistry and is the Head of Department. AJ has worked in Africa (Seychelles, Kenya and Zimbabwe) and umpires Regional Mens and Ladies Hockey. She is a keen sportswoman and plays cricket, hockey and golf.

AJ is married to Brian who teaches Music and ICT at Shiplake. They have a 12 year old Seychellois Mountain Cat who is mostly domesticated.

Evening and weekend activities include an invitation to a Housemistress’ tea, regular outings to the cinema and bowling followed by a pizza meal or similar. Girls’ movie night is very popular!

Shiplake College has planning permission to build a dedicated girls’ boarding house. It is hoped that the boarding house will open in September 2009.
