At Shiplake College, whilst pupils may request permission to take study leave, we strongly encourage all pupils to attend College throughout the exam season. We employ external invigilators to manage all of our public examinations in the Summer Term, ensuring teachers are available to run a full academic programme of lessons throughout the exam season. This approach provides the structure we feel pupils need in the crucial period ahead of examinations, targeting both individual and group-specific weaknesses, receiving important feedback and honing exam technique. We firmly believe that the majority of pupils will benefit from studying within the College.
Requests for study leave away from College should be made via the request form. Please ensure that all study leave is formally applied for in this manner, at least 48 hours in advance, to ensure that, for safeguarding reasons, we have a clear record of pupil absences. With knowledge of absentees staff are also able to plan academic lessons more effectively.
