Welcome to a new rowing season, to those new to it and those who have whiled away many hours by the water hoping they don’t miss the crucial race!

The Boat Club Supporters' committee are parents who coordinate support at events: providing teas, coffees and bacon butties and large amounts of baking. We plan to run a sign up sheet this year to help share the load.

We also try to keep parents informed via Twitter account @SupportersSCBC

We know that the sport of rowing has its own peculiarities, and we hope we can make your job as a supporter a bit easier.

Last year our fundraising went towards the purchase of a fabulous new Boat Club gazebo which was used at Shiplake Regatta and Henley Royal Regatta. This year we’re aiming to raise £2,500 to buy an RP3 Simulator which will be used to develop better rowing technique. The school is already investing in two, so we’re planning to help buy a third. The ultimate aim will be for eight.

We raise money through running events and selling merchandise. Important dates include the Christmas Fayre on 10 November, the Quiz Night on 30 November and the Shiplake Regatta in the summer. We also raise funds through selling merchandise and calendars will be available soon.

Most of all we hope you will feel part of the Supporters. Our ultimate aim to build a community off the water to support those on it!

As you may be aware, rowing is an expensive sport with 'eights' priced at upwards of £30,000 and the cost of other necessities such as blades also mounting up. Whilst the College provides a generous budget, the SCBCSA tries to raise funds for the smaller extras.

We usually have a donations box for the teas and coffee and any money that we do collect goes directly to the Boat Club Fund. Quiz nights, raffles, dinners and river cruises, as well as the annual Shiplake Regatta, are all regularly part of the fundraising efforts.

Fundraising efforts are now looking towards supporting the proposed new boathouse.

Your support is greatly appreciated.
