The Shiplake College Boat Club Supporters have been raising money for the Boat Club and have purchased an RP3 Rowing Simulator for the benefit of our young rowers.

Director of Rowing, Mr Dave Currie said: “The boat club would like to thank our fantastic Shiplake College Boat Club Supporters for fundraising for an RP3 rowing simulator. The rowing simulator will benefit the whole boat club, helping to develop individuals’ technique on land as well as improve physiology. The fundraising has been a lot of work for the committee but in the quest to raise money, they have organised some great social events and helping build a strong rowing supporters community.”

The RP3 rowing machine simulates the feeling of being on water, so coaches can teach on-water technique, while securely on dry land. The RP3 has other benefits over static machines, such as the protection it offers the lower back by reducing the force it experiences during the stroke.

Chair of the Shiplake College Boat Club Supporters' Association, Mrs Becky Waller, said: “The winter term sees the Boat Club Supporters focus on fundraising, and this year’s stupendous efforts brought an early bonus to the rowers. The Quiz Night and Christmas Fayre were extremely well supported, and we were able to donate £1,425 to the purchase of a Row Perfect 3 and a new tea urn! A huge thank you to everyone who supported us; we couldn’t have done it without you!”
