OTHER ENTRY POINTS AND LATE APPLICATIONS

Year 7 (11+), Year 9 (13+) and Sixth Form (16+) are our regular intake points which have set admissions timetables but, if there is a space available, we are able to consider late applications, in-year applications or applications for a place in Year 8 or Year 10.

Year 10 applications can only be considered if the pupil's start date falls during Autumn Term.

Year 11 and Year 13 applicants are not considered; the linear nature of GCSE and A Level courses does not facilitate a successful transition.

We would urge parents looking for an out of process or in-year admission to contact us to check on availability. Please contact the Admissions Office on 0118 940 5221 / 0118 970 4764 or [email protected] or [email protected].

Can I visit the College?

Yes, please either join one of our scheduled events or, if you are looking for entry very soon, please call us on 0118 940 5221 to arrange an individual visit.

When should we apply?

Please do not submit a formal registration for a late application until you have made contact with the Admissions Office to discuss the availability of a suitable space.

What are the entry requirements?

We can assess candidates from Years 7 to 10 in English and mathematics remotely, Sixth Form candidates will be set some subject specific assessments.

There will also be an interview with a senior staff member and a reference will be requested from the candidate’s current school.

Is Shiplake a selective school?

Yes, Shiplake College is a selective school but we do not select on academic ability alone.

We admit pupils across a range of abilities, we look for pupils who will make the most of the opportunities and challenges that will lie ahead of them at the College and who will, in turn, contribute to and enrich the Shiplake community.

When do I have to make up my mind?

Offers of out-of-process places are likely to have short deadlines, and a prompt acceptance facilitates the best possible transition into our community.

What should I do next?

Please call the Admissions Office on 0118 940 5221 or 0118 970 4764 or email [email protected] or [email protected] so that we can discuss your needs.
