On Saturday 13 September the Boat Club
Supporters’ Association hosted a picturesque evening River Cruise along the
River Thames. Parents and friends boarded The New Orleans, a paddle steamer
kindly donated by Hobbs Of Henley, to help raise money for the Boat Club’s latest fundraising initiative; 'Blade Aid'.
Guests started to arrive at 7.30pm with jumpers
in hand to keep the night chill at bay as the boat cruised along the Shiplake
and Wargrave stretch of the Thames. The
weather was kind on a clear evening and although the nights had already started
to draw in, the views from the upper deck were beautiful. After taking in the sunset, the party moved inside for a delicious buffet and drinks. A raffle was also organised to provide a further boost to the fundraising total.
SCBCSA Chairwoman Katie Potter commented:
“On board, food , wine and good conversations were in abundance. We would like
to say a big thank you to all who joined us. This included parents, coaches,
Old Vikings (including four from 1964) and staff. It has been a please to
receive so many wonderful comments; they are very much appreciated by all
involved. What a way to spend the evening - messing about on the river!”
