Rugby Players Celebrate Awards
RugbySport

The rugby season has been a busy one; each of the teams has played new rivals and matches that will live long in the memory. To celebrate the end of the season, and acknowledge the hard work put in across the term, the rugby awards were held recently. Three separate dinners were held; one for the Lower School rugby players, one for the Junior players and one for the senior players in the lead-up to the end of term.

As well as enjoying a sumptuous dinner and the chance to reflect on the season that has been, the players were presented with a number of different awards, such as Player of the Season, Most Improved and Leadership Award. Players were also awarded with a pin, which is a badge to recognise those that have played in 75% or more of the games for which they have been available. A tie signifies those who have made a significant contribution towards their respective A team. A blazer badge denotes those achieving high honours outside school, and a 1st XV blazer is awarded to a select number of those achieving the white tie for outstanding achievement, contribution and attitude throughout the season.

Director of Rugby Mr Sam Beckett commented: ‘it has been a tough season in some respects; we’ve had a few injuries and this has been a setback for certain matches. However, the boys have all come together really well and encouraged and supported each other, working hard and I’m really proud of their commitment to the game. It’s been great to see so much talent in the younger teams as well – we’ll look forward to these teams coming up through the school and progressing as they do.’ Please see below for the list of winners:
