Computing Pupils Top Challenge
Academic

Computing is a popular part of the Shiplake timetable; pupils get involved with a variety of activities, including such things as creating computer games. In November 2016, a number of pupils took part in the Bebras UK Computational Thinking Challenge. Pupils in Years 7 to 11 took part in the global competition, which saw students from schools across the country participate in a number of online challenges and tasks based on computer science, putting participants’ knowledge and logical thinking skills to the test.

The results are now in, and Shiplake College pupils did exceptionally well. Throughout the various age bands nearly 100,000 students were involved, and a number of Shiplake pupils achieved within the top 25%. Head of Computing and ICT Mrs Louise Adamson commented that ‘the pupils have done amazingly well in this competition, and I am very proud to be able to share their results with you.’

Congratulations to Nicholas Rowe, Jamie Macleod, Matthew Grundy, Flynn Wilson and Alexander Wilson from Year 7, all of whom achieved Distinction.

From Years 8 and 9, Anthony Adamson, Jamie Liu, Jasper Beardmore, Johnny Yulhanson-Hutchins, Conrad Cameron-Tueton, Samuel O’Brien, Harry Clark, Tom Craven, Angus Wood, Samuel Green, Ben Thornber, Jai Angell, Kai O’Hare, Joseph Duncalf, Monty Greenaway and Hugo Rex all achieved Distinction.
