Over the course of the term, each teacher and each department spend time assessing pupils’ work and their overall progress, ensuring that they are on track to achieve their targets. In doing this, teachers are also able to see those pupils’ who have excelled themselves in a variety of departments, going above and beyond the expected. Up to five individuals from each year were awarded with an Academic Excellence certificate, recognising the best overall Progress Reviews this term.
The Academic Excellence Certificates celebrate pupils’ achievements in class so far this term. Pupils were assessed on their engagement with learning and their effort in class, and awarded a certificate in assembly. Pupils were also awarded with entry into the Exemplum Docet Society. The EDS, which focuses on academic enrichment, exists to stretch and challenge academic scholars and those pupils who are performing well. The group enjoys visits from external speakers, the chance to go on a variety of trips and challenging discussions and debates within the meetings.
