On Saturday 24 June, pupils, parents and families gathered at the Shiplake Boat Club for the annual Shiplake Regatta. Seven eights entered, with each crew being made up of a mixture of members from the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, J16 and J15 VIIIs. The Senior Girls, J15 and J16 B crew rowers made up the rest of the crews. The J14s raced in their own Coxed Quad event. Both the VIIIs and J14 events were split into two competitions, the main event and the Plate. The crews that lost in the first heat would be entered into the Plate. All the racing was run in front of the boathouse over a short 250m course. The full listing of winners is below:

The regatta concluded with the big race of the day, the 1st VIII vs the coaches. The coaches firmly put the pupils in their place winning two out of two races – however, this may have had something to do with the coaches being joined by current heavyweight GB rowers, Old Viking Will Satch, Jacob Dawson and Tom Form.
A massive thank you to the members of the Shiplake College Boat Club Supporters’ Committee who catered the event, providing teas, coffee, burgers and the most amazing cakes, handmade by our very talented parents. We hope to see you all again next year for another successful Shiplake regatta.
