The College would like to congratulate Deputy Headmaster, Mr
Rob Jones, following his appointment as Headmaster of Rendcomb College (HMC), Gloucestershire.
Rob will commence his new role in September 2015.
Rob has made a superb impact during his four years at
Shiplake, most recently pioneering the changes to our ‘Shape of the Week’,
which will see more academic contact time factored into the weekly timetable.
Rob’s pastoral responsibilities have ensured pupils continue to receive
exceptional care during their time at the College, and he has also enjoyed the
opportunity to share his expertise on the river with members of our Boat Club.
Mr Jones follows in the footsteps of former colleagues Brendan
Pavey (Head of Sixth Form), Derek Mackey (Director of Studies) and Shane O’Brien
(Deputy Headmaster) who have all made the step up to Headmaster roles since
2011. In fact, Rob is the fourth consecutive Deputy Headmaster at Shiplake to progress
directly into a Headship, testament to the growing reputation and prestige
attached to the College.
Shiplake Headmaster Mr Gregg Davies commented: ‘Whilst we
will be very sad to see Rob go, we are all pleased that he has fulfilled his
ambition to become a Headmaster. I have every confidence that Rob will excel in
his new role, and wish him the very best.’
An update on plans to appoint a successor to Mr Jones will
be provided in due course.
