Former Shiplake College pupils have been making a splash in
the art world, exhibiting work and being shortlisted for nationally acclaimed
photography competitions.
Former Gilson House pupil, Bunty Rowbotham, took the
opportunity to display artwork at the Clarendon Fine Art Grand Gallery Opening.
Already a prestigious gallery in London’s affluent art district, Mayfair, Clarendon
has recently extended its reach and opened a gallery in Marlow. Clarendon Fine
Art Marlow opened its doors to the public this year, specialising in
contemporary paintings and sculpture from talented emerging artists, as well as
influential names.
A regularly featured artist in the Mayfair gallery is
Sherree Valentine Daines, one of the UK’s leading impressionist artists. On
Thursday 14 May Clarendon Marlow hosted a grand gallery opening, celebrating
Sherree’s formidable reputation. Old Viking Bunty Rowbotham had the opportunity
to exhibit her own artwork, being a talented and committed sculpturist
herself.
Former Orchard House pupil Harry Williams has also been
experiencing success in the art world recently. PhotoVoice is a
participatory photography company that develops relationships with NGOs and
community organisations in order to share lived experiences- or, in the case of
PhotoVoice, to give a voice to disadvantaged and marginalised communities
through the power of photography. PhotoVoice hold competitions to introduce new
and upcoming photographers, who show exceptional artistic ability. Their latest
event was the second ever awards ceremony held in collaboration with
theprintspace. The awards saw Old Viking Harry Williams’ work shortlisted as a finalist, and
he relished the opportunity to exhibit his work in London.
