Secret Postcard Exhibition Launched
The Arts

Last week, the Shiplake College Art Department launched an exciting Secret Postcard Exhibition to celebrate the impending opening of the brand new John Turner Building.

The exhibition invites all pupils, parents, staff and friends of Shiplake College to submit artistic contributions. Submissions must be A5 or A6 in size and can be created using any medium (e.g. drawing, painting, collage, photograph). Multiple contributions either individually or as a set are also welcome. The pieces of art should be signed on the back and returned with the separate information form which provides further details of the artist and the artwork itself.

All entries will be exhibited in September 2014 in the magnificent new Art Department. The anonymous postcards will all be put on sale for the same price. Local and professional artists, and other well-known names, will also be invited to take part so you could find yourself the owner of a postcard worth much more than what you have paid. The artist’s identity will only be revealed after purchase!

The private view will take place on Thursday 18 September with an open house on Friday 19 September.

To enter, please follow these five easy steps:

  1. Collect a piece of A5 or A6 cartridge paper from the College or use your own (it does not have to be cartridge paper)
  2. Create a piece of art... draw, paint, collage, photograph or whatever you can think of!
  3. Sign the back of your artwork and complete the information form
  4. Post or return to 'Secret Postcard Art Exhibition', Shiplake College
  5. The deadline for entries is Monday 15th September

Anyone can get involved in this fun way to raise funds to go towards resources for the Art Department. Your support, either by contributing a piece of art or purchasing one (or both!) will be much appreciated. There will also the '(John) Turner Prize' for the best contribution.

Please email Katherine Green ([email protected]) if you have any queries or would like a blank postcard sent to you – although you may also use your own stock/medium.
