ROWING CAMPS

Bookings now open for rowing camps 2024!

Shiplake College offers summer training camps for novice and improving rowers. Utilising the College’s excellent facilities including the newly constructed Davies Centre, the five-day camps offer expert coaching and comprehensive tuition to ensure that all participants are able to significantly develop their skills and technique whilst also having a lot of fun on the river!

The residential camps are open to boys and girls, from any school, aged 13 to 18 (i.e those due to be in Years 9 to 13 from September 2024). As part of the residential offering, students enjoy further rowing-related activities in the late afternoon and excursions in the evenings.

The dates of the summer camps in 2024 are as follows:

  • Camp Week 1 (Monday 22 to Friday 26 July): Non-residential camp
  • Camp Week 2 (Monday 29 July to Friday 2 August): Residential camp (some day places available)
  • Camp Week 3 (Monday 5 to Friday 9 August): Residential camp (some day places available)

The Camp Information Booklet will be emailed out to all registered participants in June 2024.

Non-Residential Camp (Week 1)

The non-residential camp, open to all girls and boys from any school going into Years 9-13, will be from 9.00am to 5.00pm each day and costs £375 for the five days. Booking for fewer than five days is currently not an option.

Residential Camps (Week 2 and 3)

Boys and girls from any school (including overseas) are warmly invited to our residential camps. A typical daily rowing programme would consist of breakfast followed by pilates/stretching prior to heading out on the water. Following the end of the rowing camp itself at 5.00pm, residents will have light activities such as swimming or rest and there will be a programme of evening events after dinner, such as local trips and activities. There will also be the option to visit the world famous Leander Club for a tour and evening meal. Boarders will be accommodated in single rooms with joint washroom facilities and common areas.

Participants on the residential camps are asked to arrive on the Monday morning and to depart at 5pm on the Friday. For an additional cost there is the option to stay the Sunday evening before the camp starts if required. The residential camp option costs £750, with an additional £80 to stay the Sunday night.

Every measure will be taken to ensure the safety of our students during the camps. Our refunds policy can be seen in the Terms and Conditions on the booking form.
