STABLEYARD REFURBISHMENT

We are delighted to release the plans for the reconfiguration and refurbishment of Stableyard. The main drivers for this are in order to accommodate the already growing number of pupils in the Lower School (Years 7 and 8) and prepare for the welcome of girls into Year 7 from 2023. The first stage of this development is that our Lower School will relocate from its current location next to College House to the Stableyard from Sept 2022..

Over the course of the next six months, new sets of toilets will be installed and changing rooms created, both of which will be available for use in September 2022. The mezzanine in what is currently the careers department will also be extended to create additional facilities which include a Common Room for the Lower School pupils, new classroom, kitchen and office space which will come together to form a dynamic and inclusive new Lower School hub.

The Tithe Barn Theatre will be used in the mornings for registration (check) and prep will take place in the classrooms at the end of the day. Cars will no longer be able to park in the courtyard area and over the summer of 2023 this will be fully landscaped to complete the refurbishment.

The Stableyard will be the base for the three classes of girls and boys in both Year 7 and 8 (approximately 48 pupils per year group), with the potential to grow to about 60 pupils per year group if required in due course). A planning application has been submitted for a new building to complete the fourth side of the quad, which would provide further classrooms and facilities that would benefit the whole school.

The CGI below provides a representation of what the Stableyard will look like over the course of the next two years.
