Old Viking Society

Old Viking Anthony Berry has made quite the reputation for himself as reliable and innovative landscape gardeners. So much so, in fact, that renowned multi-award winning designer and horticulturist Alan Gardner has requested the team to attend this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show, to construct his show garden for the 2015 exhibition.

The garden is being sponsored by Viking River Cruises to celebrate the launch of Viking River Cruises’ first ocean ship, the Viking Star. In previous years, Viking Cruises have been awarded medals at the Chelsea Flower Show; 2014 saw them walk away with a silver gilt medal for their successful artisan piece ‘Viking Cruises Norse Garden.’ The garden will include polished surfaces, bespoke sculptures, a floating deck of marine-ply and two Nordic coins encased in glass; replicas of the coins laid at the keel laying ceremony of the Viking Star. This will be complemented throughout the space by flowing blue and white flowers, indicative of the sea and billowing waves.

The team are working in association with Hilliers Landscapes, and the garden is supporting the Autistic Society. Designer Alan Gardner, alongside whom the team are working, is known for his starring role in Channel 4’s The Autistic Gardener, and is the creator of 40 RHS show gardens, winning numerous awards from Chelsea, Hampton Court and Tatton Park. Old Viking Anthony has said that he is ‘privileged to be working at RHS Chelsea’, and ‘incredibly thankful for this fantastic opportunity.’
