We are sad to share the news that Old Viking Jonathan Kent (63E) died in July. Jonathan was one of our founder pupils and was in Everett House.

After leaving Shiplake in 1963, he had a long and successful worldwide career as a film editor and film maker, first at the BBC, then with his own companies and at BAE, specialising in aviation. Although he never married he had a wide circle of friends and colleagues who were very fond of him. He had many interests including aviation (he was qualified to fly light aircraft), history, travel, books and music (his piano teacher was Irene Scharrer). He enjoyed restoring vintage vehicles, latterly a 1950s BMW motorcycle which he continued to ride regularly.  He had an independent outlook, great sensitivity under a sometimes gruff exterior, and always a well-developed and quirky sense of humour."

His surviving siblings and niece will miss him more than they can say.

With thanks to Jonathan's brother Nicholas, for providing us with this tribute.
