We bade a fond farewell to some of our teachers and support staff at the end of the summer term, as they all now become Old Vikings just like our pupil leavers. We thank them for all they contributed to the College and wish them well with their next adventures.
Anna Morgan
Anna Morgan has sadly decided to leave the College at the end of the academic year. Anna has been teaching at Shiplake for 15 years and has done a superb job in delivering quality education in a dynamic and positive way as well as building great rapport with pupils and their parents. It is worth asking Anna about her plans, as exciting foreign travel will be a key feature of next year, and we will wish her a warm bon voyage.
Sian Davies
Sadly, Sian Davies has decided to resign from the College after nearly 12 years to spend more time with her parents. Since taking on the role of Gilson Housemistress in 2021, Sian has excelled in her duties, providing exceptional care and guidance to the girls over the past four years. Her empathy and kindness have been the cornerstone of her interactions with both students and colleagues. Sian’s commitment to Shiplake goes beyond the classroom and Gilson. She frequently puts her hand up to support colleagues with educational visits, with minibus driving and has played a central role in the Duke of Edinburgh programme. We will be very sad to see Sian leave but she goes with our very best wishes.
Andy Jones
Andy Jones has made the decision to leave the College to take up a boarding housemaster role in Switzerland. Andy has been at Shiplake for just over three years and has made a considerable contribution to life at the College. Andy has done an excellent job as Housemaster of Orchard, a role he took on after serving as DHSM of Everett and has been highly committed to the pastoral support of those pupils. Andy has been a component of the rowing coaching team and the army section of CCF, as well as leading the EDI committee and spearheading the Safe Space initiative. He has also assisted with the dance aspect of the whole school production. Andy's enthusiasm and positive impact will be greatly missed by everyone at Shiplake, and we wish him well in his new role in Switzerland.
Jamie Wheeler
Jamie Wheeler has decided to leave the College to take up a role at RGS Guildford. Jamie joined Shiplake as a Graduate Teacher of PE in 2020 and over the last 5 years has been heavily involved in the provision of PE and sport at the College; was Deputy Housemaster of Burr; and is also Master in Charge of Cricket. Jamie’s sporting knowledge is excellent, and he has brought his love of sport to the pupils, engaging and enthusing them to participate in a variety of co-curricular and sporting activities. He goes with our best wishes.
Peter Jasper
Peter Jasper has decided to leave the College at the end of the academic year to take up a position at a school closer to home. Peter has made an extremely positive impression on pupils and been a very effective Head of Physics. In the last few months, Peter has stepped up as Acting Head of Science and has been committed to ensuring that pupils receive the highest quality of education in science and has maintained consistency across all three scientific disciplines. We wish Peter the very best in his new role.
Artiola Brahaj
Artiola Brahaj has made a valuable contribution to the Psychology Department in the short time she has been at the College, and we are sad to see her leave. We wish Artiola every success in her next role.
Katie Deacon
Katie Deacon has decided to move on from the Medical Wing after a fantastic contribution to the team. Her expertise and dedication have made a real difference, and she has been a hugely valued member of the department. We are incredibly grateful for her hard work and the positive impact she’s had during her time with us. We wish Katie all the very best in her next chapter.
Liv Lucas
Liv Lucas has been a terrific addition to the Medical Wing supporting the team one day a week and we have loved having another Old Viking return to work at the College. We wish her the best going forward.
Emma Turgis
Emma Turgis is also moving on from her role in the Medical Wing. Her wealth of knowledge and professionalism have been a great asset to the team, and her presence will certainly be missed. We thank Emma for everything she has brought to the department and wish her every success in her future endeavours.
Carole Coles-Ranson
Carole Coles-Ranson has made the decision to retire and left the College at the end of term. Carole has done a great job in the reception role over the last year, and she leaves with our very best wishes for her retirement.
