It was wonderful to once again welcome back Old Viking Rory Abery (20W) to deliver a talk on ADHD to our sixth form pupils! Rory previosuly visited during INSET to talk to our staff and on Monday 3 November, it was the turn of our pupils.
Rory delivered a deeply personal and motivational talk on his ADHD journey to our Sixth Form pupils. His presentation struck the perfect balance between being informative and emotionally engaging, offering a powerful insight into the lived experience of neurodiversity.
Speaking candidly about the challenges he faced during his secondary school years, Rory shared how developing a deeper understanding of his ADHD—and persevering through a process of trial and error to find strategies that worked for him—enabled him to reframe his neurodiversity in a more positive light. His emphasis on embracing strengths and fostering self-awareness was both inspiring and empowering for our students.
The impact of Rory’s talk was evident in the number of pupils who approached staff afterwards to express how much they had gained from the session. His authenticity and optimism left a lasting impression and offered a valuable perspective on the potential of neurodiverse individuals to thrive.
Thank you, Rory, for once again visiting the College and speaking to our pupils!
