Bookings for 2026 camps will open on 16 December 2025.
Shiplake College offers summer training camps for novice, intermediate and advanced rowers. Utilising the College’s excellent rowing facilities, the five-day camps offer expert coaching and comprehensive tuition to ensure that all participants are able to significantly develop their skills and technique whilst also having a lot of fun on the river!
The camps are open to boys and girls, from any school, aged 13 to 18 (ie those going into Years 9 to 13 from September 2026) with the first non-residential camp also open to those going into Year 8 in September 2026. As part of the residential offering, students enjoy further rowing-related activities in the late afternoon and excursions in the evenings.
The dates of the 2026 summer camps are as follows:
- Camp Week 1 (Monday 13 to Friday 17 July): Non-residential camp (those going into Years 8-13)
- Camp Week 2 (Monday 20 to Friday 24 July): Non-residential camp (those going into Years 9-13)
- Camp Week 3 (Monday 27 July to Friday 31 July): Residential camp (arrival 5pm Sunday 26 July)
- Camp Week 4 (Monday 3 to Friday 7 August): Residential camp (arrival 5pm Sunday 2 August)
Non-Residential Camp (Weeks 1 and 2)
The non-residential camp, open to all girls and boys from any school going into Years 9-13, will be from 10.00am to 4.00pm each day and costs £375 for the five days. Booking for fewer than five days is currently not an option.
Residential Camps (Weeks 3 and 4)
Boys and girls from any school (including overseas) are warmly invited to our residential camps. A typical daily rowing programme would consist of breakfast followed by Pilates/stretching prior to heading out on the water. Following the end of the rowing camp itself at 4.00pm, residents will have light activities such as swimming or rest and there will be a programme of evening events after dinner, such as local trips and activities. There will also be the option to visit the world famous Leander Club for a tour and evening meal. Boarders will be accommodated in single rooms with joint washroom facilities and common areas.
Participants on the residential camps are asked to arrive on the Sunday evening at 5pm and to depart at 5pm on the Friday. The residential camps cost £900.
There is a weekend residential stay for those wishing to book both Week 3 and 4 residential camps, for an additional £300. This can be selected under the Week 3 camp option at the booking link below and includes accommodation, food and activities (Friday 1 to Sunday 2 August).
