There used to be a magazine, written by Shiplake students for Shiplake students, called "The Viking Voice". But for many years the Viking lost its voice and there were no magazines for the students of Shiplake to enjoy... until now!
This term, four fearless and adventurous students revived the magazine and the 'Viking Voice' is back. S Wright, J Kirby, M Coulter and M Burwash formed a magazine club, as part of their Co-Curricular option run by Mr Stuart Read, and set forth to discover the word on the Shiplake streets.
We found out that Mr Howe used to dream of being a pop star, that 82% of our students disagreed with the College's phone rule, that Mrs Rapple Moore uses a bamboo toothbrush, and that no Shiplake student knows who shot Spencer Perceval (only Mr Milburn knows this one!).
M Burwash had this to say about the magazine: 'The best thing about being part of the magazine team was having the independence to write your own thing' and she also appreciated getting to know people not in her classes and integrating with students in other years.
M Coulter, Political Correspondent, said: "Seeing everything coming together at the end was the most satisfying part of the whole process and I felt that it was a great experience in to the real world of journalism."
