Pupils at Shiplake have been marking Anti-Bullying Week with a whole week of activities.

The theme for Anti-Bullying Week 2020 is United Against Bullying and was launched by Deputy Head Pastoral, Mr Nick Brown in assembly on Monday.

The week started with the launch of Shiplake's new Kindness Poster which was designed by two Year 11 pupils and has been put up in every classroom and house to remind pupils of the qualities a kind Shiplake student possesses.

Pupils and staff were also encouraged to wear odd socks all week to celebrate difference and all the amazing things that make us unique.

On Tuesday every pupil watched videos the United Against Bullying Video. On Wednesday, pupils were asked to 'be the reason someone smiles today' and carry out three random acts of kindness and share them on post-it notes with their tutors.

On Thursday, pupils were encouraged to think of themselves and share the good things in their lives by highlighting #Shiplake3GoodThings that have happened to them over the course of the day.

On Friday, tutors and pupils will work on a group activity and look at the role we can play collectively to stamp out bullying.

Mr Brown said: "Anti-Bullying Week is a week where we all come together and reflect on our relationships with others and how we interact with those around us.

"I asked pupils to wear odd socks all week because we are all different and celebrate diversity here and it's a good reminder throughout the week that everyone is different and that we need at times to be more tolerant of each other."

"This is a week to concentrate on being kind and treating each other with respect - not just for this week, but moving forward."
