Shiplake College recently marked Anti-Bullying Week with a focus on the national theme Power for Good, highlighting the importance of kindness, respect, and positive influence within our community. This initiative forms part of the College’s ongoing commitment to fostering a safe and supportive environment for all pupils.

As part of the week’s activities, pupils took part in two engaging competitions. The first invited them to identify an individual who had used their influence to make a positive difference, explaining the actions taken and the impact on society. The second presented pupils with hypothetical bullying scenarios, encouraging them to consider how they would support someone in need and ensure concerns were reported appropriately.

The response from pupils across all year groups was outstanding. Entries were thoughtful, well-researched, and demonstrated a strong sense of empathy and responsibility. Winners were selected for their articulate answers and practical ideas for promoting respect and inclusion.

To build on these efforts, Shiplake College is proud to be participating in the United Against Bullying Programme in partnership with the Anti-Bullying Alliance. This national initiative is designed to help schools develop tailored strategies that reinforce positive behaviour.

The first stage of the programme involves gathering feedback from pupils, parents, and staff through a short questionnaire. The insights gained will inform a bespoke action plan, ensuring that the College continues to provide an environment where every pupil feels safe, valued, and empowered to use their own Power for Good.

This work, alongside the dedication of our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors, reflects Shiplake’s proactive approach to promoting respect and wellbeing across the school community.
