Earlier in the Summer Term, we were treated to a wonderful evening of drama and talent at our LAMDA showcase! In total, 20 pupils performed at the showcase across 15 performances; some performing pieces from exams taken earlier in the year but the majority performing ahead of their LAMDA examinations taking place the following week.
This year’s LAMDA showcase took place in the Lecture Theatre on Thursday 2 May and it was the perfect opportunity for our pupils to show off their talent and skills to their parents and other members of the Shiplake College community. There was a combination of solo performances, duo acting, and combined acting performances across a variety of levels and grades.
Speaking after the showcase and publication of results, LAMDA teacher Mrs Lucazeau said:
‘I am over the moon for all my pupils! Such excellent progress was made this year for all my pupils, and they have all achieved wonderfully high marks in their exam grades; they should all feel extremely proud of themselves.
I'd like to thank everyone’s parents as well for supporting the work that goes into these exams and probably testing lines with the pupils at home! Finally, a special mention has to be said for George Watson in Year 10 who scored 95 in his Gold Medal exam. This is an exceptional mark for Grade 8, and a well-deserved result of all the hard work he has put into this Grade.
All my Shiplake pupils have been a total joy to work with, and I look forward to seeing them progress to their next Grades in September.’

LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) classes are open to students across all year groups and help to improve confidence as well as communication and performance skills. Examinations are designed to equip candidates, whatever their age or aspirations, with a range of skills that will serve them throughout life. Pupils will develop confidence to present themselves with clarity and expression. As well as specific performance skills, pupils will gain a broad knowledge and appreciation of plays and literature to support core education, and will hopefully find lessons fun, practical and empowering.
You can learn more about LAMDA on the College’s LAMDA page where it contains examination details, more about Mrs Luzaceau, and the link to register.
A highlights of the showcase will be available in due course but please enjoy a photo gallery from the evening below in the meantime.
