On Saturday 15 November, Shiplake College opened its doors to the local community for our much-loved annual Christmas Fair. From 10.00am to 2.00pm, the Sports Hall and Great Hall were transformed into enchanting winter wonderlands, creating the perfect festive atmosphere for guests to get ahead with their Christmas shopping.

This year’s fair was a resounding success, attracting hundreds of visitors and featuring over 60 stalls from local businesses offering a wide range of gifts, including jewellery, candles, beauty products, clothing, decorations, and edible treats. It was wonderful to see so many people supporting local enterprises while enjoying the festive spirit.

Our catering team from Thomas Franks kept everyone well-fed with seasonal delights such as turkey and stuffing pasties, mince pies, and mulled wine. For those seeking something heartier, mac and cheese with pigs in blankets proved a popular choice!

Entertainment and activities were plentiful throughout the day. The Parents’ Association ran their ever-popular tombola for adults and children, while crafting tables in the OVR provided creative fun for younger visitors. The Shiplake College Merchandise Stall was a hit once again, with umbrellas, Oddballs hats, cufflinks, and dog accessories flying off the shelves. As ever, our Shiplake Loones lounge pants and sliders were in high demand, with products bought throughout the event.

A special mention goes to Year 13 pupils Jake Scotchbrook who led College House’s charity stall selling apple juice. All bottles sold out raising £342.39, with all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK. The Shiplake Community Choir, under the direction of Mrs Rapple Moore, added to the festive cheer with beautiful carol performances throughout the day.

Of course, no Christmas Fair would be complete without Father Christmas! The Morning Room was transformed into a cozy grotto where children were thrilled to meet Santa and receive gifts. Huge thanks to Mr Nick Brown – a familiar face both at the College and at the Christmas Fair - for stepping into the famous red suit and beard.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended, volunteered, and contributed to making this year’s Christmas Fair such a memorable occasion. It was a fantastic celebration of community spirit, festive fun, and charitable giving. Roll on next year!
