With it being the Exeat Weekend, fewer fixtures took place over the last week, however there were rugby cup games for our 1st XV and U15A boys. Our senior girls were also in hockey action with the As facing Claires Court and Bs taking on The Oratory and, in football, there were special training sessions for our boys' and girls' 1st XIs.

Training with Jade Bradley (Watford FC Women) and Jack Woodley (Wycombe FC Foundation)

Last month, our girls’ and boys’ 1st XI football teams had the opportunity to experience training sessions delivered by Watford FC Women’s Jade Bradley and Wycombe FC Foundation’s Jack Woodley. It was great to welcome back Jade to the College in what was truly an inspiring afternoon for the girls where they were put through their paces in a number of drills and exercises.

Speaking after the session, Jade said "It was great to get involved today at Shiplake College with the girls. They took all the details given on board, were competitive with each other in every aspect of the session but above everything, they were continuously engaged and had fun throughout!"

Head of Football, Mr Claridge, added “It was great to have Jade come in and provide sessions for our senior girls' teams. Her playing experience at clubs such as Watford and Portsmouth allow her to provide constructive and insightful analysis of the game that will be extremely valuable to all our girls' teams this year.”

Girls’ U18A vs Claires Court

Another successful match by Shiplake College's girls' first team on Wednesday 27 September with the girls still on a high following the previous week. The game started quickly with Shiplake getting a short corner in the first quarter. This led to the first goal being scored by O Parkin after a strong push out by G Weedon. In the second quarter, an amazing run down the line by S Pendlebury led to O Parkin scoring a second goal off the reverse. In the third quarter, there was some incredible defending from A Flower and in the final quarter of the game, the mood from Shiplake was high and G Weedon scored her first goal off the reverse of her stick leaving the final score 3-0 to Shiplake. Congratulations girls for a second incredible game, and congratulations to Player of the Match, O Parkin, Players' Player S Pendlebury, and finally Coach’s Player E Dickson. A massive well done as well to L Schoenmaker for her first game in goal.

Final score: Shiplake College 3-0 Claires Court

Girls’ U18B vs The Oratory School (U18B)

On Wednesday 27 September, the B team played their first match against The Oratory School’s B team. The team went into the match with a positive attitude throughout. Shiplake had the first push back and played valiantly with great attack and defence, however after several interceptions and turnovers from both sides, the opposition scored. Shiplake kept their spirits up and played on conceding only one other goal in the first half. The second half got off to a very good start for Shiplake with a goal being quickly scored by S Woodeson, however The Oratory fought back and scored two more goals in the second half with R Acton in goal doing an excellent job of preventing The Oratory from scoring more. E Morris did a great job in defence as well as L Bradley and D Knight in midfield and R Dewar in attack. Congratulations everyone on an amazing attitude and a great match, especially S Woodeson for receiving Player of the Match and Players’ Player along with D Knight

Final score: Shiplake College 1-4 The Oratory School
