Lower School

On Friday 19 September, we were delighted to host our annual Year 7 Grandparents’ Morning at Shiplake College. Following the success of previous Lower School events, it was wonderful to once again welcome grandparents and loved ones of our newest pupils to the College.

The morning began with a warm welcome from the Headmaster, Mr Howe, before guests enjoyed tea, coffee, and sweet treats in the Great Hall. Very quickly, the room was alive with conversation as Year 7 pupils introduced their families to new friends and staff.

The highlight of the day came when pupils stepped into the role of tour guides, proudly showing relatives around their school. For many, this was a first chance to see the College in action on a school day, bringing to life the places and experiences their grandchildren have been talking about since the start of term.

Clear skies meant that families could also enjoy photographs on the Skipwith Terrace, with its impressive views over the lawns, and down by the Davies Centre and by the River Thames. The tours offered a special insight into College life, whether discovering hidden corners for the first time or revisiting familiar spaces.

It was a real pleasure to share the morning with so many of our pupils’ families, and we hope our guests enjoyed the occasion as much as we did.
