In February, a group of talented Year 9 and 10 mathematicians from Shiplake College took part in the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) Intermediate Mathematical Challenge — a 60‑minute, multiple‑choice competition designed to inspire curiosity, resilience and a love of problem‑solving among students in Years 9–11.
We are delighted to celebrate an impressive set of results across the College. Year 9 pupils Lili Baietta and Lyra Jones achieved Gold Awards, placing them among the top performers nationally. Their outstanding scores have earned them a place in the next round of the competition on 19 March, and we wish them both the very best of luck as they take on this exciting challenge.
Further strong performances came from Rory Collar (Year 9) and Year 10 pupils Charlie Craig, Autin Mason, George Dallas, and Harry Perkins, all of whom earned Silver Awards. In addition, the Maths Department is pleased to report nine Bronze Award winners, reflecting continued growth and improvement on last year’s impressive haul.
These achievements highlight the hard work, enthusiasm and problem‑solving spirit of our pupils, and the Maths Department looks forward to building on this success in future challenges.
