Back in April, 18 of our Year 7 and 8 mathematicians took part in the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust's Junior Mathematical Challenge. Following the challenge, they all received awards with one pupil in particular standing out and achieving a Gold Award.
The challenge, open to Year 7 and 8 students, promotes a love of problem solving and is a 60-minute, multiple-choice challenge. encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought and fluency to make students think. The problems on the Junior Maths Challenge are accessible yet still challenge those with more experience.
Year 7 pupil, Lili Baietta, received a Gold Award which is an amazing achievement for a Year 7 student. The Maths Department achieved a further six Silver Awards and eleven Bronze Awards.
