On Friday 20 March, Shiplake welcomed over 50 French students from Wilbur Wright College

Nuala Howard-Jones, Year 13, provides an account of their visit:

‘Their visit was a lovely opportunity to practice our French as well as to help them with their English and show them what Shiplake has to offer. We began with socialisation games, being put in playing partners through finding the student with a matching card of our own. Then we played some games in these partners, including a Shiplake and Champagné quiz, which was a good opportunity to practice our French one to one with a student. After lunch, we gave them tours around the site, and I toured teachers , who were particularly amazed by our art department. We finished the day by playing netball, football and cricket with them outside in the sun and taking a hearty group photo. Overall, I’d say the day was a huge success.’

Afterwards, the Shiplake teachers took the group of 49 students and 4 teachers to Henley, for a little stroll along the river, and some "lèche-vitrine" in the town centre. Back at school for dinner and they left us around 9pm to drive down to Dover, and catch their ferry back home. Thank you to everyone involved, staff, students and catering - it was a "fantastique" day! See you next year, in France!"
