On Wednesday 22 November the Sixth Form Society held its first talk of the academic year. This was given by Chris Whyatt, founder of the business Get to Great, which provides an alternative approach to consultancy services by looking at the people within the company and harnassing their knowledge and experience to drive up sales and success. Below is an account of the talk from Darius Braun in Year 13.
"The first speaker to be invited to talk to the Sixth Form Society was Chris Whyatt. Chris is a successful businessman who gave a very informative talk on the “10 Things I Wish I Knew Before I Left School”. This included that 'everyone is in sales' and 'people's motivation dictates their behaviour'.
It was clear that the students enjoyed listening to what Mr Whyatt said given the many students who stayed late after the event to get more pearls of wisdom. The students asked many questions, talking about the future and Chris Whyatt’s background. We ended the evening with a round of applause and a small gift from the Sixth Form Society, in thanks for him giving a really excellent talk and we hope other students will get to meet him in the future.
The Sixth Form Society is now looking to arrange for more speakers to talk to the students. Thanks to all who attended."
