On Tuesday 3 March, Year 11 pupils took part in the Inter‑House Debate Competition, with two speakers from each House competing in a lively contest on two topical motions.
The first debate focused on “GCSEs do not really test what matters,” followed by “The super‑rich should pay to end poverty.” Both debates were hard‑fought, with strong arguments delivered on all sides. Judges were impressed by the quality of speaking throughout, as each House made clear, decisive points.
There were several standout performances. Zac Miles delivered a calm and confident speech for Orchard, while Archie Palmer impressed with his clarity and showmanship. After two closely contested rounds, Skipwith emerged as the overall winners. Flynn Burrow and Seb Currie impressed the judges with their well‑prepared speeches and strong engagement throughout the debates.
