The whole School Photography Competition recently drew to a close, with pupils from across the College showcasing their creativity and sense of humour through the lens.
The competition was conceived, designed and organised by Year 10 pupils Mo Britton and Lorenzo Bowater-Rubio as part of their Art Scholarship, demonstrating impressive leadership and creativity from start to finish. Mo and Lorenzo developed the entire concept of the competition, designed an eye‑catching poster and invited entries on the theme of ‘Amusing Animals’. The competition was open to both staff and pupils, attracting around 30 entries before the closing deadline of 27 February. Judging was led by Mo, who was supported by staff from the Art and Photography departments. The key judging criterion was simple but effective: ensuring each photograph clearly captured the spirit of an amusing animal. The variety and quality of submissions made choosing the winners a challenging but enjoyable task.
The winners were announced during the Whole School Easter Service at the end of last term, with all winners receiving Easter Egg prizes in recognition of their efforts. Congratulations go to the runners-up
- E Banwell (Year 7) for her entry of Dog Bath Time
- Dexter Penney (Year 8) for his entry of Cool Dog in Sunglasses
The overall winner of the competition was
- Albie Ball (Year 11) for his entry of Shiplake Golden Retriever
Speaking about his winning entry, Albie said: 'My picture is a photo I took of my dog Bones, who is a Golden Retriever. After seeing the theme of the competition, I thought it would be hilarious to have my dog wearing my school blazer and tie, showing how dog‑friendly the school is.'
The competition was a fantastic example of pupil‑led initiative and collaboration, well done to Mo and Lorenzo for creating such an enjoyable and successful event, as well as everyone who submitted entries for sharing their creativity with the School community.
