In today’s Sports Report, we catch up with the latest round of sports fixtures and events that have taken place in the last week. This includes cricket, rounders for our senior girls, and rowing at the Poplar Regatta in London.

In cricket, our boys’ 1st XI put in a strong performance to defeat South Oxfordshire Amateurs in a declaration match. Having been set a target of 187 to chase, the boys racked up the runs to win by one wicket. They then followed this up with a defeat in a tough match against St Benedict’s School. However, there was success for our U15As in their match against St Benedict’s School where they won by one wicket.

Away from the fixtures, we had a fun evening on Friday 16 May where our staff took on the College boys in a friendly game of cricket. The game was played in good spirits with the spoils going to the pupils in Year 13.

In rounders, our senior girls were in action for their first home fixture of the season. In their first game, the girls were victorious with a 23-21.5 victory over The Oratory School, and they followed this up with a commanding victory over LVS Ascot. The 23-11 score is sure to fill the girls with confidence ahead of a triangular event this week.

Our rowers were also in action over the weekend at the Poplar Regatta in London. In total, nine crews competed with six racing in ‘A’ finals. For the senior girls, there were 1st place finishes for the WJ18 4- and 8+ crews, as well as a 3rd place finish the W4 + Gold crew. Our Op J16 4+ came 1st in their A final while our two Op J16 2x crews finished 4th and 5th. Well done to all pupils who competed; it all serves as good preparation going into National Schools’ Regatta this week.
